{"id":14,"date":"2021-02-24T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lsi-training.com\/LCWAG\/2021-2-23-loudoun-commission-on-women-and-girls-identifies-unmet-needs-for-loudoun-women\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T11:28:47","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T15:28:47","slug":"2021-survey-unmet-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lsi-training.com\/LCWAG\/2021-survey-unmet-needs\/","title":{"rendered":"Loudoun Commission on Women and Girls Identifies Unmet Needs for Loudoun Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sqs-html-content\" data-sqsp-text-block-content=\"\">\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">The Loudoun Commission on Women and Girls (LCWAG) released today an overview of the results from its recent research on how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of women residing in Loudoun County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Out of nearly 400 survey respondents, one third of women identified having one or more unmet needs. The top three unmet needs are:<\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Child care support<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Access to health care (including physical and mental health)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Connections to employment or other workforce support<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">\u201cIt is clear that Loudoun women are experiencing an extraordinary burden in attempting to balance personal and family well-being in the face of COVID-19,\u201d stated Angela Mitchell, LCWAG\u2019s Chair. \u201cThis series of surveys is shaping changes to our employment initiatives, including LCWAG\u2019s leadership programming for young women and the development of a mentorship model. We hope that the county\u2019s incoming Chief Equity Officer will also use the findings to coordinate new policies and programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">While this initial survey generated responses from across Eastern and Western Loudoun, LCWAG is determined to improve outreach with the African American, Asian, and Hispanic\/Latina communities in order to be more representative of the county\u2019s demographics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Future research will seek a more comprehensive understanding of issues and solutions related to child care, health care, economics and employment.
