LCWAG\u2019s roots date back to 1983, when the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors established a Commission on Women in response to the need for a dedicated voice on issues affecting women.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/h2><\/div>The commission was volunteer led, received no county funding, and was sustained through fundraising until it disbanded in 2008. In 2017, the Loudoun Commission on Women and Girls was created after a 2016 vote to reestablish a women\u2019s commission, introduced by Chair Phyllis Randall, did not pass. The effort was driven by constituent calls for a commission focused on women and girls. In response to continued community interest, Chair Randall brought together a group of women to independently establish the commission.<\/p>\n
In April 2021, the LCWAG Board of Directors formally established the organization as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit and rebranded as the Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls. Today, LCWAG remains an all-volunteer, nonprofit, nonpartisan, and nonpolitical organization funded through grants and private donations.<\/p>\n
\nOur mission is simple:<\/strong> LCWAG educates, empowers and collaborates to advance Loudoun\u2019s women and girls.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nOur vision is a community where every woman and girl thrives. LCWAG\u2019s work is informed by community voice and local data. Through programs, research, partnerships, and outreach, we identify gaps, elevate needs, and connect women and girls with tools, resources, and opportunities. Our annual bilingual survey<\/a> helps LCWAG listen to the community, track issues affecting women and girls, and use local insight to guide programs, partnerships, and future priorities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>Putting Insights into Action

This includes Girl EmPower<\/a> programming for young women, Women EmPower<\/a> initiatives focused on career, entrepreneurship, and resources, and Health and Wellness programming<\/a> that addresses safety, well-being, and awareness around issues such as human trafficking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>Community Advocacy
